Eugene M. Whitmer

Eugene M. Whitmer, 70, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026, at Twilight Gardens Nursing Home in Norwalk. He was born on August 8, 1956, in Elyria to the late Frank and Dorothy (Campbell) Whitmer. Gene earned a Bachelor of Science and Ministries Degree from Liberty University.

A Godly man of few words, Gene was hard working, funny, and strong willed. He enjoyed fishing, casinos, and followed Cleveland professional sports teams (Browns/Guardians). Gene was a member of Crossroads Community Church in Norwalk.

He had worked as an industrial radiographer, x-raying welds to make sure they were intact for industrial businesses including BP and the Pfaudler Company in Elyria, and Abex. Later he also worked security for Securitas.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janet Whitmer; daughters, Jessica Whitmer and Jacquie Moore, grandchildren, Nick Moore, Brenna Smith, and Lexi Brown; and nephew, Curtis (Jordan) Whitmer.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Bordy, and grandson, Jason Moore.
