Evelyn D. Fanning, age 84, of Litchfield, died October 11, 2008 at Allen Medical Center in Oberlin following a lengthy illness. Evelyn was the daughter of the late Russell and Doris Schroeder. Evelyn was employed by the Allen County Recorders Office in Allen County, Indiana. In Wellington, Ohio, Mrs. Fanning was a member of the Golden Agers and was active in the quilters group at the Penfield Community Church. Mrs. Fanning was an avid reader; she enjoyed flowers, gardening, crafting, and sewing. Evelyn is survived by her daughter Pat Wakefield of Litchfied, grandchildren, Tammy Singletary, and Robin (Brian) Nelsen both of Lagrange, Ben Wakefield of Findlay, and Tyler Wakefield of Litchfield. Mrs. Fanning is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, Tony, Zac, Micaela, and Maeve; and by two siblings, John and Chris. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband John L. Fanning, and a sister Janey Monttinger. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington, where services will be held Thursday, October 16 at 2 p.m. In memory of Evelyn, flowers and contributions to the American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, NY 10006 will be accepted.
