Norwalk, Ohio - Finley "Junior" Bennett, 80, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born August 22, 1938 in Hinton, West Virginia, to the late Finley Shanklin, and Ruth (Sherman) Young. Junior lived in this area most of his life, and graduated from New London High School in 1957. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. Junior was a former employee of Mayflower, Inc. (Motor Panels/Sheller Globe), retiring in 2001. He was a member of Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion, Eagles Aerie #711, the Cushman Motor Scooter Club, and the U.A.W. Junior enjoyed repairing lawn mowers and sweepers, going to festivals and fairs, gardening, going out to eat, watching Western movies and television shows, and listening to country music. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Claudette (Miller) Bennett of Norwalk, Ohio, by his son, Todd F. (Sidelia) Bennett of Williamsburg, Ohio, and Valerie D. (Mark) Nowak of Toledo, Ohio. Junior is also survived by his siblings, Honora Wade of Sullivan, Ohio, Sally (Donald) Bolyard of Bybee, Tennessee, Thomas (Susan) Bloom of Deming, New Mexico, and Clara Brown of Spencer, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Denise Claudette Bennett, by his siblings, Billie Joe Bennett, Elizabeth Downing, Blanche Clark, Martha Weiler, Juanita Cooper, James Bloom, and Donny Bloom. There will be no calling hours. Private graveside services will be held in St. Paul Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by American Legion Post #41, Norwalk, Ohio.
