Florence "Norie" Thomas, 89, of Clarksfield, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2015 at the Laurels of New London. Norie was born on September 16, 1926, at home in Hartland Township, the daughter of Frederick and Ruth Perkins. Norie grew up in the country, raised 6 children and from an early age she learned, appreciated and instilled in her children the value of hard work. During her junior and senior year of high school she also worked for the former CE Ward. Norie was very social and believed in getting together with family and friends. She always had a garden, enjoyed painting, crafts, canning and crocheting. Florence also made flower arrangements and sold many of her artistic crafts at craft bazaars. She also enjoyed Euchre, cards and games in general. Florence and her late husband of over 60 years Neal were in a multi-couple card club, a bowling league, and together they also enjoyed dancing, especially barn dances. She was a typical farm wife, and was very talented and always ready to lend a helping hand. She is survived by her children, Vaughn Thomas of Clarksfield, Al (Nancy) Thomas of Norwalk, Mark (Patricia) Thomas of Clarksfield, Marcia Thomas of Norwalk, Debbie (Mike) Boswell of Collins and Kris (Tess) Thomas of New London; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Including her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Neal O. Thomas and siblings, Louis "Lefty", Charles "Chuck", Hubert "Hubie", Robert, Wayne, Leonard, Arlene, Pat and Evelyn. Florence's family will greet friends on Monday, December 28, 2015 from 10 am until the noon service at Eastman Funeral Home, New London with Pastor Doug Lang officiating.
