Floyd W. Moore, 93, of Wellington, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at the Hospice of North Central Ohio in Ashland. He was born on July 10, 1918, in Warner to the late John and Bessie (nee Thomas) Moore. Floyd was a graduate of Salem Liberty Rural High School. He was drafted into the Army in WWII and proudly served his country in the Philippines.
For 30 years Floyd worked for Columbia Gas. He participated with the John Deere dealership in Wellington for 2 years and worked as a pick up and delivery person for Harrison Ford. Floyd also served as a dispatcher for the local fire department.
A member of the First Baptist Church of Wellington, Floyd served as a deacon, helped with the music program and drove the church bus. He was also a member of the Gas Co. Club.
He leaves behind his children, Roger (Donna) Moore, of Wellington and Holly (Fred) Finks, of Ashland, 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Floyd was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Helen on March 7, 2012, and siblings, Carl, Harold, Dan, Earl, Glen, Ray, Merl, Erna, Elsie and Edna.
Friends and family are invited to a graveside service which will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Wellington on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Thomas Alexander, Pastor Wellington First Baptist Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, 44805.
