Obituary

Foyster Matlock, 96, of Wellington, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at Allen Community Hospital in Oberlin. Mr. Matlock was born in Trosper, Kentucky and moved to South Amherst in the early 50's. He lived in Sullivan and Clarksfield and the past 13 years in Wellington. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. Foyster worked at the Cleveland Quarries in South Amherst for 30 years. He was a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in South Amherst. He is survived by his children, Pauline (James) Thayer of Jamestown, TN, Jean (Jim) Haynes of Wakeman, Joanne (Raymond) Bowling of Amherst, Doyle (Carol) Matlock of Amherst, Rob Matlock of Georgia, Stan (Dee) Matlock of Wellington, Russ (Sue) Matlock of Summerset, KY and Alvin D. Matlock of Georgia; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Foyster is also survived by his sister, Louise Garland of Cincinnati.. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dona; parents, William and Florence (Carter) Matlock; infant son, Frank Matlock; 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Friend may call 6-9 pm Monday at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St, Wellington. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 9457 Baumhart Rd., South Amherst with Pastors Earl Conner and Harold Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in South Amherst with military rites.
