Frances Anne Comstock (94), formerly of Wellington, died on October 6, 2024 in New Albany, OH.  She was born May 9, 1930 in Columbus, OH to the late George and Effie (nee Martin) Schleppi. Fran graduated from South High School in 1946. She graduated with a B.S. degree in Nursing from the Ohio State University School of Nursing in 1950.

Fran worked at University Hospital in Columbus and Allen Memorial Hospital, Oberlin.  She was a stay-at-home mom for many years, raising her four children.  Fran was active in the First Congregational Church for many years teaching Sunday School, running Youth Groups, serving on Diaconate, Church Council, and on Pastoral Search Committees.  Frances worked as a public health nurse for the Lorain County Health Department in Elyria and St. Joseph's Hospital in Lorain.  She retired in 1990.

Frances was a member of Afternoon Club, Pinochle Club, and Literary Club in Wellington.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, music, entertaining, walking, and reading.  She enjoyed being outdoors - camping, swimming, bicycle riding, and traveling.

Fran was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Harrison.  Survivors include children, Jim (Katie) Comstock, of Redmond, WA, Peg Comstock, of San Diego, CA, Tom (Pam) Comstock of Bozeman, MT, Janet (Brent) Krelko, of Westerville, OH; 5 grandchildren, Kirsten, Kevin, Michelle, Becca, and Becky; AFS exchange students who were like family, Manolo (Sonia) Valenzuela, their 3 children and  3 grandchildren, all of Chile and Syamaun (Erna) Peusangan and their 4 children all from Indonesia, now residing in Canada.

Calling hour will be Thursday, October 10 from 10 - 11 a.m. with the funeral service beginning at 11 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of your choice.
