Fred F. Timko, Jr., 76, died November 4, 2008 following a short illness at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Chillicothe, OH. Born in Barberton, OH on July 18, 1932, Fred was the son of the late Fred and Mildred Timko, Sr. Mr. Timko lived in Homerville and in the Huntington area before retiring to Ft. Myers, FL. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Fred worked at the Sterling Foundry in Wellington for several years and also owned and operated the Do Drop Inn in Huntington for many years. He was a member of the VFW posts in both Wellington and Ft. Myers. Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, and coaching and playing baseball.
Survivors include his son, Fred F. (Shannon) Timko III, of Mansfield, and his daughters, Lona Blake of Xenia, Louise (Tony) Gossman of Wellington, Mickey (Les) Handley of Sullivan and Paddy (Lewis) Johnson of Chillicothe. Fred is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gerrie in 1986, a brother, Gilbert Rothrock, and a sister, Helen Biddinger.
Friends will be received Friday, November 7 from 7-9 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington and again from 10:30 a.m. until the 11:30 funeral service on Saturday. Rev. James Reymann will officiate and burial will follow at the York Township Cemetery in Mallet Creek.
