Frederick Mele, 95, of Elyria, died on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria. Born on August 5, 1925 in Cairnbrook, PA, he was the son of the late Jacob and Francis (nee Ravinkar) Mele. He grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Elyria in 1947.

Frederick proudly served our country in the US Marine Corps. He worked at Thew Shovel and the grounds of the Elyria Methodist Home. He was a lifetime member of VFW and was a leader while his kids were in Boy Scouts. Frederick enjoyed the outdoors, camping and riding his motorcycle. He was also an avid racing fan and helped build race cars with his friends and sons. Frederick cherished his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Natalia (nee Hough) Mele; children, Roger (Sandy) Mele, of Colorado, Ron (Connie) Mele, of North Carolina, Randy Mele, of Elyria and Rick (Dee) Mele, of Wellington; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Mikki, Ruby and Evelyn; he was preceded in death by his children, Becky and Russ.
