Frederick Leonard Paine, Jr., of Huntington, died on August 7, 2025, at the age of 77. The son of Kathryn and Frederick Paine, Sr., Fred was born in Colorado and grew up in Huntington. He was a 1966 graduate of Black River High School.

Fred was honored to serve his county during two tours in Vietnam in the United States Army. Following his military service, Fred worked at BFI as a mechanic. He then was a truck driver for Burge Trucking in Burbank.  He loved watching old westerns, especially Gunsmoke.

He is survived by his son, Matthew (Andrea) Paine, of Huntington; stepchildren, Jim Curtiss, of Sullivan; Dan Curtiss and Bob Curtiss, both of TX; grandchildren, Aidan Paine and Mason Paine; and siblings, Hazel Paine, of Willoughby, Harold Paine, of Huntington, and Patricia (Stan) Kosakowski, of Brecksville. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his companion of 40 years, Isabelle Robertston, stepchildren, Debbie Maurer and Mike Curtiss, and the mother of his son, Eilene.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, August 13 from 12 p.m. until the 2 p.m. Funeral Service at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington.
