Obituary

Frieda Irene Hilliker (nee Tudor), 92, of Wellington, died Thursday, August 09, 2012 at the Elms Retirement Village. Born on October 1, 1919 in Norwalk to the late William and Lella (nee Peck) Tudor, Frieda graduated from Wellington High School in 1937. She was retired as a secretary to the Principals at Wellington High School. She worked as a cafeteria aide for the Wellington Schools. She was employed at Clarkson Brown Photography as a clerk. An active volunteer, Frieda was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a camp cook for Camp Patmos and Stoney Glen, a dispatcher for Wellington senior citizen bus, a Gray Ladies Hospital Volunteer. She also gave her time to the Lorain County Metro Parks and cooked dinner for the Wellington Kiwanis. In addition to her community involvement, Frieda was also active with the First Baptist Church of Wellington, where she was a member. She played the piano at church and sang in the choir as well as a traveling mixed quartet. Frieda was a Sunday School Teacher, the Financial Secretary, a Youth Director with her husband, Howard, and a member of the Women's Missionary Society. Frieda loved to travel; she went on trips to Costa Rica and Venezuela to visit her son and daughter-in-law Gary and Bernie Hilliker who were Missionaries. She also loved playing games with her family, reading and crafting. Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Ted) Hyde; son, Don (Glenda) Hilliker; daughter-in-law, Bernie Hilliker; 10 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. and son, Gary L. Family and friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, August 12 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. A public graveside service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington with Rev. Thomas Alexander officiating. Memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers, may be directed to the First Baptist Church, 125 Grand Ave., Wellington, OH 44090.
