Gail D. Smiley

Gail D. Smiley, 72, of New London, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk. She was born on January 19, 1954, in Fairmont, WV; the daughter of the late Franklin Fullen and Shirley (Hinton) Fullen Shannon.

Gail was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished being with her family. Gail was a registered nurse and finished her career at the nursing home in New London.

She is survived by her loving husband, James A. Smiley, whom she married on September 2, 1972; her children, Shane Smiley of Minerva, OH, Brian Smiley of Mansfield, Andrew Smiley of Norwalk and Matthew Smiley of North Monroeville, OH; grandchildren, Deacon, Ethan, Kaleb and Kaylin Smiley and her siblings, Kathy Montgomery of Warren, OH, Larry Fullen of FL, Gene Shannon of VA and Robert Shannon of NV.

In addition to her parents, Franklin and Shirley, Gail was preceded in death by her stepfather, Robert Shannon and a grandson, Austin Smiley.
