IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gary Eugene
Edwards
March 18, 1950 – July 17, 2024
Gary Eugene Edwards, 74, of Wellington, entered into the joy of the Lord on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, at Mercy Health Lorain Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 18th, 1950, in Williamson, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Charles and Eleanor (Crawford) Edwards.
Gary's family relocated to South Bend, Indiana, where his love for Notre Dame Football began. Working at the stadium selling hot dogs, he became deeply connected with the team and its traditions, fueling his lifelong passion for the sport. His love for football was matched only by his passion for music, which he first embraced through his mother. He enjoyed singing various genres and playing the guitar.
In 1969, Gary enlisted in the Army and served two tours in Vietnam. After returning, he devoted his life to the Lord in 1974 and spent the rest of his life serving Jesus. As a committed church member, he managed the sound system for many years. In March 1975, Gary married his beloved wife, Sheila Goss, and together they raised five children. He also had a significant career as a lineman for ESS and announced local sporting events for Channel 12.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Eleanor Edwards; siblings Lacy Perl, Karen, Kerry, Debbie, and Ellen; as well as his niece Kim and nephew Aaron.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila (Goss) Edwards of Wellington, Ohio; his sons Jason (Tiffany) Edwards of Johnstown, Ohio; Kris (Natalie) Edwards of Pataskala, Ohio; Gary (Bethany) Edwards of Republic, Missouri, and Trenton Edwards of Wellington, Ohio; and his daughter Jessica (Donald) Edwards of Cleveland, Ohio. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who were a source of immense joy and pride for him. His legacy will live on through their lives and the memories they cherish.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 17th, at 3 PM at Perfecting of the Saints Tabernacle, 22910 State Route 511, Wellington, Ohio. Everyone is welcome, and food will be provided.
