Gary A. Savage Sr., 81, of Sandusky, Ohio, died on December 22, 2020 at Firelands Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 24, 1939 to the late Mary "Jackie" and Arthur Savage.
In the late 1950's, Gary met the love of his life, Margie (Spears) Savage, and the two married in 1963. He worked for Roger's Group Sandusky Crush Stone for nearly 30 years until his retirement in 2000. Gary was a member of the Cline Street Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, hunting, shopping at garage sales and flea markets, travelling to Kentucky, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his wife, Margie Savage; son, Gary A. (Pat) Savage Jr.; grandchildren, Laura Cotner, Michael Savage, Heather (Robby) Moskus, Samantha Brake, and Garrett Savage; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Riley, Gracie, Kaiden, Carrington, Karsen, Clyde, and Kolsten; siblings, Jack (Linda) Savage, Jess "Toad" (Berthie) Savage, Randy (Lisa) Rice, Debbie Gilliam, Penny (Morgan) May, and Greg (Penny) Rice; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his step-father, Jack Rice; daughter, Sandra L. Savage-Ortner; and siblings, Sarah Savage and Johnnie Savage.
His family will receive guests on Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio 44857, with a burial at Sand Hill Cemetery to follow. Masks must be worn by all visitors while inside the funeral home. The funeral home has a limited capacity, so guests should be prepared to wait outside.
