Gary Duane Wacker, 72, of Huntington, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Mercy New Life Hospice. Born on June 20, 1944, he was the son of the late Herbert and Ruby (nee Krugman) Wacker. Gary was a lifelong resident of Huntington Township and a graduate of Black River High School. A machinist by trade, Gary worked for Rockwell, Cleveland Steel and retired from Whirlaway, but Farming was his passion. He was a member of the Farm Bureau for many years. Gary enjoyed time outdoors hunting and especially fishing. He was a devoted father and was active in his children's lives, helping with softball and attending their events. Gary cherished his grandchildren and the time he spent with them. Survivors include his wife, Elsie; sons Rick (Cheryl) Wacker, of Elyria, and Matt (Amy) Wacker, of Huntington; step children Susan (Michael) Martin, of Wakeman, Sandra (Robert) Deidrick, of Sacramento, CA, John (Christene) Anderson, of Middleburg, FL, and Jennifer (Richard) Beranek, of Enterprise, AL; 7 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren, and one great grandchild; siblings JoAnne Pasadyn, of LaGrange, Robert (Arlene) Wacker, of Elyria, LaVon (James) Venus, of Chatham, Allen (Janet) Wacker, of Houston, and Betty McConnell, of New London. He was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn, son Curtis, daughter Missy Stevens, siblings Eldon, Leon, Paul, Russell, Alberta, and Audrey. Friends and Family will be received on Friday, October 7, from 4-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington. Services will be held on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Huntington, 26677 State Rt. 58, Wellington. The family requests in honor of Gary that attendees come dressed casual.
