Obituary

George E. Dean, age 97, of New London, died Friday, July 11, 2008 at Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk. He was born in Olive Hill, Kentucky on March 13, 1911 to the late Watt and Mary (Zorn) Dean. George lived in Cleveland from 1920 to 1970 when he moved to New London, Ohio. He owned and operated Dean's Diner in Cleveland, Ohio on Euclid Avenue and later worked as a chef for the Fitchville Restaurant. George was a member of the New London United Methodist Church and the New London Grange. Mr. Dean was totally dedicated to providing for his family and had a positive impact on many lives. George is survived by his son David John Dean of New London, Ohio, 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Auddress Lovel, a daughter, Maureen Lovel Grosser, a son, Walt Edward Dean, and a brother, Roger Dean. Friends may call from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 13 at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London. Friends may also call from 11 am until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday at the New London United Methodist Church with Rev. Cathy Ake and Pastor Doug Lang officiating. Burial will follow at Fitchville Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870.
