George F. Gens, Jr.

September 26 ,1932 – December 17, 2021

George F. Gens, Jr., 89, of Norwalk, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

George was born on September 26, 1932 in Lorain, OH to the late George, Sr. and Mabel (Strehle) Gens.

George learned his strong work ethic at 6 years old, working in the nursery greenhouse. He also hand cut trees using a cross saw with his grandfather to help clear the recently bought family farmland. In the 1950's he also enjoyed fossil and arrowhead hunting with his father.

George graduated from Clearview High School and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army. He was employed at Lovers Lane Nursery and owned Milan Interiors for 30 years. George installed flooring for over 50 years. He was a member of the Milan Rod and Gun club. In his spare time, George enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching and working on the farm.

George is survived by his loving wife, Doris (Heckelman) Gens, whom he married on March 19, 1986; 3 children, Janette (Dale) Roberts, Jeffrey (Angel) Gens and Lantana Wood, all of Norwalk; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his son, George F. Gens, III and 3 siblings, Joyce, Mary Ellen and John.

A Celebration of Life will be announced and held at a later date. Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
