Norwalk, Ohio - George L. Hartman, 72, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Tuesday evening, April 26, 2016, at The University of Toledo Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. He was born April 28, 1943 in Shelby, Ohio, to the late Charles W. and Irene (Dick) Hartman. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam. George was a member of the Foundation Church, Norwalk, Ohio, and was a life member of Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad (N & W). George enjoyed hunting, being around people and friends, and enjoyed drinking Pepsi, and eating caramel corn. He is survived by his brother, Dwight W. (Betty) Hartman of Chesilhurst, New Jersey, by 2 nieces and 3 nephews. George is also survived by Linda Herner, Joyce Hartle, Trisha Horning, Kyle Herner, Tim Herner, and Stefanie Noethen. He was preceded in death by his companion of 40 years, Mary A. Jenkins, in 2013, and by his brother Richard "Roper" Hartman. Friends may call on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk, Ohio. Pastor Jeff Watson of the Foundation Church will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery, Fredericktown, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation Church, 87 W.
