Obituary

George Samuel Schworm, Jr., 88, of New London, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk after a lengthy illness. He was born January 11, 1927, in Cleveland, son of the late George S. and Florence (nee Shepley) Schworm. George previously lived in Wellington and Avon. George joined the U.S. Army in 1946 right out of high school. He served his country during WWII. George worked as a procedures auditor for East Ohio Gas, the former May Company and Forrest City in Wellington. He was a member of the Classic Car Club in Avon. George was a classic car enthusiast; he enjoyed painting models and buildings and collecting Hot Wheels. He was also a member of the American Legion in Portsmouth. George always stayed busy, he refinished furniture and especially loved big dogs. Survivors include his wife of nearly 20 years, Livena; children, Kenneth (Kathy) Schworm, Linda Sue (Robert) Reed, David (Patty) Schworm and Craig Schworm; stepchildren, Mike (Eva) Snyder, April (Roy) Jarrell, Stacey Mulder and Amy (Billy Griffitts) Bolding; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson, Patrick Carroll. A private family service will be held. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to the Patrick Carroll memorial scholarship at Sutton Bank, New London.
