On Saturday, February 16, 2019, George Robert Storch, age 81, loving husband and father passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at his home in Sullivan, Ohio.
George was the son of George and Mary Antionette (Shepler) Storch. He was born December 4, 1937 in Norwich, NY. After graduation from Norwich High School in 1955, George entered the United States Air Force and served as a control tower operator. While on active duty, he met his future wife, Anna Maria Schmitz, at Spandahlem US Air Base near Trier, Germany. Upon honorable discharge from the Air Force, George continued his career as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration assigned to the Cleveland Air Route Traffic Control Center in Oberlin Ohio. After retirement, he enjoyed part-time work for many years at his favorite store, the Home Hardware in Ashland Ohio.
George and Anna were married at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Norwich, NY, and had just celebrated their 59th anniversary. George and Anna are the parents of seven children, grandparents of five, and great grandparents of two. George loved living in the country and was especially fond of watching the wildlife on his property. He always had pets from chickens to peacocks, rabbits, goats, horses, cockatiels, aquarium fish, and of course his favorite, dogs. He was the ultimate do-it-yourselfer and could fix anything. He tinkered in woodworking, engine repair, computers, and electronics. He loved exploring his family's genealogy. In 2001 he and his wife, Anna, spent a month in Germany researching his ancestral roots.
George is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Mary Anne Scanlon Storch, son Robert George Storch, daughter-in-law Donna Ray Herron Storch, sisters Mary Bullock, Carolyn O'Malley, and Joanna Shultis. George is survived by his loving wife Anna Maria, his children, Jeannette and Phillip Bohland, John Storch, Heidi and Joe Mack, Donna and Joe Trebing, Jim Storch and Mary Storch, and his sister, Nanette Liberatore.
