George T. Weikel, 77, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky on October 22, 2025. He was born on November 29, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Anthony and Maryellen Weikel.
George grew up in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, where he and his brother, Anthony "Lee" Weikel, spent countless hours exploring the outdoors and sharing adventures. After graduating, George proudly served his country for four years in the U.S. military during the Vietnam War, stationed at Midway. Upon returning home, he worked as a groundskeeper for Berlin Heights Township, where he took great pride in his work. A man of unique interests and a playful spirit, George enjoyed collecting memorabilia, especially anything related to SpongeBob SquarePants and the Minions. He also loved video games and model trains. Above all, George treasured his family. He was deeply proud of his five grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them.
George is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Judith Weikel; his children, Christopher Weikel, Daniel (Danielle) Weikel, and Amanda (Jeremy) Gibson; his brother, Anthony "Lee" Weikel; and his beloved grandchildren, Maizi, Julieann, Dylan, Kaleb, and Kaden.
A visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 West Main St, Norwalk.
