Gerald 'Jerry' Bernard Cook, 76 of Wellington died February 14, 2008 at Elyria Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born August 27, 1931 in Johnstown, Colorado to the late Ray and Esther (nee Greenup) Cook. Jerry lived in Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma, Thailand, and Taiwan before settling in Wellington in 1979. He was a 1949 graduate in Clinton, Missouri. He joined the Army and served from 1952 until 1954. Jerry worked at Cleveland Center FAA in Oberlin as an Electronic/Systems Engineer. He taught computer classes at the Lorain County Joint Vocational School and at Lorain County Community College; also, he owned Cooks Computer Services. Jerry enjoyed camping at Clare Mar Lakes and playing cribbage. He played the guitar, the mandolin, and the banjo. He was a member of the Masonic Liberty Lodge Taipei Taiwan, Afifi Temple Shriners, 32nd degree. He was also a member of the Wellington VFW Post #6941, the Wellington Eagles #2051, the Wellington American Legion Post #8, and the Wellington AmVets. Jerry was a proud member of AA for over 20 years. Surviors include his wife of 30 years, Roberta 'Bobbie' L. Cook; four children, Shawn Hall, Shalaine Stienke, and Shala Davis, all of Oklahoma, and Kimberly (Kenneth) Allred of Marshallville, Ohio; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Jerry is also survived by his brother, Wilbur Gene (Dorothy) Cook of Missouri, his mother-in-law, Louise A. Dolezal, and his best friend, NIT NOY. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Gerald B. Cook Jr.; a son-in-law, Chaz Stienke; his father-in-law Robert A. Dolezal; and two brothers, Lee and Floyd Cook. The family will receive friends from Sunday, February 17 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday with Pastor Ray Ake officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with military rites.
