Gerald J. Cowie, of New London, Ohio died on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at home, he was 78 years old.  He was born on September 14, 1942 in New London, Ohio to the late Charles E. and Rhea (Knapp) Cowie and was a 1961 New London High School graduate.

A New London bus driver for over 35 years, Jerry also farmed and served on numerous County Boards, was a Rochester Township Trustee since 1986, where he began working in high school, past-President for many years of the Rochester Homecoming Board, driver for Harry Rowland Jr. Trucking, former member of the Rochester Gun Club and member of Rochester United Methodist Church.

Jerry enjoyed supporting the New London Wildcat athletic events and meeting up with his friends at the Wildcat Diner for breakfast.  He cherished time with his grandchildren and Gator rides.

Survivors include his sons, Christopher Cowie of Newark, Ohio, Shawn (Trey) Cowie of Canton, Michigan and Randy (Tiffany) Cowie of New London; sister, JoAnn Cowie of New London; grandchildren, Justin, Sarah, Taylor, Mason, Cole and Brooklyn.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by many aunts and uncles.

Friends may call on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 2 – 4 p.m. and from 6 – 8 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main St., New London where a funeral service will be held on Thursday May 27, 2021 beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Doug Lang officiating.  Burial will follow in Rochester Cemetery on Griggs Rd. where Jerry was the cemetery sexton for many years.  Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the Rochester United Methodist Church, 201 South State St., Wellington, OH 44090.  Online condolences to the family may be expressed by visiting www.eastmanfuneralhome.com
