Gerald Montgomery, age 67, of Shelby, died Monday, October 29, 2012. He was born July 8, 1945 in Willard, Ohio, son of the late Mose and Ada Maye (Green) Montgomery. He grew up in the Willard/Greenwich area and had lived in Shelby since 1978. Gerald was a 1963 South Central High School graduate. He had worked for Copperweld in Shelby for 19 years, then for AK Steel in Mansfield for 18 years. He retired as a contracted supervisor at General Motors in Ontario. Gerald liked NASCAR Racing, drag racing and helped his son restore a 1965 Nova. He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Palmer) Montgomery, whom he married July 18, 1965; children, Sonya (James) Howard of Novi, Michigan, Gerald (Brenda K.) Montgomery of Shelby and Garth (Michelle) Montgomery of Shelby; 4 grandchildren, Erik and Evan Montgomery; Kayla and Lindsey Howard; siblings, James (Barbara) Montgomery of North Fairfield, John (Helen) Montgomery of Greenwich, Rick Montgomery of Willard, Joy (Richard) Sweeting of North Fairfield, Cheryl (Larry) Fox of Indiana. Friends may call from 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 and from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main St., Greenwich with Pastor Jim Howard officiating.
