January 17, 1936 – December 20, 2019
Gerald J. Schloesser, 83, of Norwalk, died on December 20, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 17, 1936 in LeCenter, Minnesota to the late Paul E. and Isabelle (Berger) Schloesser. Gerald attended McKinley High School in LeCenter, MN, graduating in 1953.
Jerry served his country as part of the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was part of "Operation Deep Freeze" and the U.S. Geological Survey out of the Rolla, Mississippi.
Jerry was an avid sports fan who enjoyed listening to St. Paul Flyers sports on the radio. He cheered for the Minnesota Vikings and enjoyed playing cards. Jerry's life was defined by hard work. He had worked for Hug Concrete Inc., the former Schloesser Concrete and Smith Paving for many years.
Jerry was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2743, Norwalk, St. Paul Catholic Church and the "Heavenly Dusters" church cleaning team.
Survivors include his children, Diane (Tony) Pressly of Norwalk, Gerald (Debbie) Schloesser of Evansville, IL, Vicki (Marvin) Linder of Wakeman and Roger (Anna) Schloesser of Norwalk; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Wayne (Donna) Schloesser and sister, Kathy (Gary) Gentz.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his late wife Barbara (Nofzinger) Schloesser in 2004; sisters, Agnes and Patti and brother in-law, Donald.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 10:30 am with burial to follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
