IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gloria L.
Scagnetti
July 31, 1937 – August 12, 2024
Gloria L. Scagnetti, age 87, died peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Twilight Gardens in Norwalk. Born July 31, 1937, in Norwalk, she had been a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Milan High School in 1955 and would later earn a business certificate. Gloria would find her niche in banking, holding various positions within local banks until she retired as a bank manager.
Never one to sit still, Gloria always found ways to keep herself busy, which was perhaps the key to her long and fulfilling life. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Milan, and the Norwalk Eagles. Socializing was important to Gloria, and she loved the time she spent with her friends, be it regular card/board game gatherings, her daily lunch outings, or anything else she could do to get out and enjoy life to the fullest. Perhaps her favorite activity was her weekly line dancing at the American Legion on Thursday nights. She loved the music, the dances, and getting to know other attendees.
Survivors include her beloved nieces and nephews, Kathy Gast, Lynne (Mel Poeppelman) Gilbert, Jeff (Jeanette) Gilbert, Scott (Kathy) Leber, Gary Leber, and Cindy Tallman; a half-brother, William Leber; and a multitude of friends who will cherish her memory and the joy that she brought to every occasion.
Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Scagnetti; parents, Roy and Katherine "Katie" (Andrews) Leber; sister, Jean Gilbert; and brother, Rich Leber.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ, 2712 Mason Rd., Milan, OH 44846. A funeral service will take place at the church immediately following visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Wendy Schindler-Chasney officiating. Gloria will be interred at St. John's Cemetery with her husband, James, at a later date. The Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home in Norwalk is honored to assist the family with their arrangements.
