Gloria (Regoli) Vogt, age 94, of Norwalk, Ohio passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021, after a life well lived.
Gloria was born in Jacobsburg, Ohio to Blanche Tiber and Filbert Regoli. Gloria graduated from Bellaire High School, Bellaire Ohio in 1944 and attended Wheeling Business College in Wheeling, West Virginia. Graduating during the middle of WW2, Gloria contributed to the war effort as a canteen inspector at the Bellaire Enamel Factory from 1944 – 1945.
On April 11, 1948, she married Richard Jack Vogt and the two moved to Athens, Ohio where Richard attended Ohio University. Two children were born in Athens before the family moved to Norwalk, Ohio in 1953. Two more children were born in Norwalk and Gloria worked part time at several business assistant positions while continuing to be the heart of the family. Gloria worked part time at J.C. Penny's, Pohl's Clothing Store, Fanny Farmer Candy and the First United Methodist Church. She worked full time once the children were older at the Huron County Department of Human Services for 10 years and then 'retired'. However, after her retirement she worked another 16 years for the same company as a Community Resource Worker until 2008.
Gloria was very social and enjoyed giving of herself and time through various clubs. She was a volunteer at Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital for almost 30 years contributing to various projects including sewing hundreds of walker/wheelchair bags for patients. Gloria was a member of the Maple City Mother's Club, Town and County Garden Club, Ambassador at the Senior Center and also a member of the Red Hat Society. Her hobbies were playing bridge, travelling, crafts and gardening.
Gloria was very active in her church, The First United Methodist Church. Gloria taught 4th grade Sunday School, worked in the Church Nursery, assisted with the LOGOS Program, held several offices in the United Methodist Women's Circle as well as was President of the Naomi-Ruth Circle, which provided food for church members and their families for funerals. She was a Communion Steward for 40 years.
Gloria and her husband Richard moved to Columbus in October 2019 to be closer to their children. Taking up residence in an apartment at the Village of Westerville, Gloria quickly made new friends as well as new bridge partners.
Gloria was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family: her husband Richard to whom she was married for 73 years, and their four children and spouses: Richard and Linda Smith Vogt, Deborah Anne and James Rudy of Columbus, David Arthur and Lori Goodson Vogt of Katy, Texas and Douglas Aaron and Janie Dirienzo Vogt of Columbus. Grandchildren: Christopher (Aditi), and Seiya Vogt. Kate Rudy. Amanda (Karthik) Vogt-Gali, Angela and Alex Vogt. Ashley (Morgan), Brittani, Cameron, Devon, Evan Vogt and Mario Dirienzo. Great grandchildren: Logan and Lucas Vogt. Brighton Miles.
Gloria was preceded in death by her siblings Felice, Junior, Eugene, Eleanor (Ball), Evelyn (Frey), and Sylvan. Gloria is survived by her sister in laws, Nora and Lucille Regoli, both of Neffs, Ohio and Margaret Regoli of Columbus Ohio. A memorial service will be held at the Norwalk First United Methodist Church, 60 W. Main St., Norwalk, Ohio on Saturday, February 19, 2022, with Rev. Brian Oglesbee officiating. The family will receive friends before the service at 10:00 a.m. in the church rotunda, until the time of the memorial service, which begins at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow with burial to take place at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Norwalk United Methodist Church, 60 W. Main St., Norwalk, Ohio 44857.
