Obituary

Golda Edith Johnson, 83, of Wellington, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Allen Community Hospital in Oberlin. Born in West Virginia on May 12, 1925, Golda was the daughter of the late William and Bertha (nee Butcher) Helmick. Golda lived in Wellington since 1959 and for 20 years she wintered in Melbourne, FL. Golda worked for Moen Incorporated in Elyria for 13 years. She attended the New Life Assembly of God Church in Wellington. Golda enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting afghans and baking apple pies. For the 2008 presidential election, she voted for the first time and was very proud of that fact. She had read her Bible completely through and always did a daily devotion with her Bible. Golda also loved her cat, Kitty, very much. She leaves behind her three children; Donna (Steve) Boham of Wellington, Roger (Judy) Johnson of Wellington and John (Diana) Johnson of Willard; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Golda is also survived by two brothers, William Helmick of GA and Harvey Helmick of WV. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; a daughter, Paulette Street; and five siblings, Glenna Montgomery, Pauline Burnside, Irene Martin, Marmel Crouser and Austin Helmick. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12 p.m. on Monday, January 26 at the New Life Assembly of God Church, 108 West St., with Pastor Mark Petric officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. Donations in memory of Golda may be given to the New Life Assembly of God Church.
