On Saturday, December 23, 2023, Guy Wells, aged 76, passed away after a battle with cancer. Guy was born on November 2, 1947, in Oberlin to Stuart and Beatrice (née Stokes) Wells.

A graduate of Western Reserve Academy, Guy went on to study at Duke and Cornell Universities. While obtaining his PhD, Guy became a fixture around Ithaca, New York. He could often be found playing the harpsichord or sharing meals with his many friends.  He would then return home to Wellington to help care for his father, and later his aunt.

Back home, he was a professor at Kent State, Baldwin Wallace, and LCCC. Guy was also a part of Wellington's own Wells Insurance Agency.  For the past 30 years, Guy served as a Councilman for the Village of Wellington. His great love and respect for Wellington were apparent in the causes he championed while serving on Council.  A member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Wellington, Guy played the organ on Sundays in his younger years.

Known as a historian, Guy prided himself in his knowledge of Wellington and other events. He was always quick to impart a story or a bit of knowledge about almost any topic.

He is survived by his nephew, Albert Wells. In addition to his parents, Guy was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence, in 2015.

A memorial visitation will be held at First Congregational United Church of Christ of Wellington, 140 S. Main St., on January 12, 2024, from 4pm-6pm.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 14th at 1:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington.
