Harold L. Bowling, 81, of New London, died Friday, December 23, 2011 at The Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Firelands in New London. He was born November 23, 1930, in Georges Creek, Kentucky and moved to New London in 1953.
He worked for the Norwalk and New London Foundry and retired from Sterling Castings of Wellington in 1996.
Harold was a member of the New London VFW and former member of the New London Eagles. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid reader.
Survivors include his children, David Bowling of New London, Sue (Mike) Stratton of New Haven, Delores (Jim) Midolo of New London, Del Bowling of New London, Dee (Rita) Bowling of New London and Daisy (Don) Ward of Monroeville; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews. Harold is also survived by his siblings, Anna Mae (Paul) Perkins, Willard (Rose) McKinney and Kenneth (Bonnie) McKinney. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, James F. Visitation will be held Monday, December 26 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main Street, New London where a service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Charles Mead officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Street Cemetery. Memorials in Harold's memory may be given to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
