IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harold Richard
"Dick" Kuhlman, Jr.
January 21, 1947 – April 11, 2022
Harold Richard "Dick" Kuhlman, Jr., or as he was known by most, "Sloop", died April 11, 2022 at MetroHealth in Cleveland. Born on January 21, 1947, in Dover, he was the son of the late Harold R. and Betty Virginia (Woeber) Kuhlman, Sr.
Dick grew up in the Norwalk area and graduated from New London High School before being drafted into the Army. After his initial commitment, Sloop reenlisted. He proudly served in the 1st Cavalry Div 7th Battalion with two tours in Vietnam, ending his military career as a Sergeant. He retired from Lake Park Industries in Greenwich. He was also a Greenwich Police Officer for some years.
An avid outdoorsman, Sloop loved to hunt, fish and search for arrowheads. He enjoyed gardening, collecting food jars and canning his own produce. With a dry sense of humor, Sloop liked laughing with family and friends and enjoyed reunions with his military buddies. His other hobbies included shooting his canon, collecting firearms, mushroom hunting, and his welders cap.
Dick is survived by his children, John (Danny Munsiff) Kuhlman, of Chicago, Roberta (Steve Poynter) Kuhlman, of Michigan, Anna (Cody Scarvelli) Kuhlman, of Mansfield, and Daniel (Sandra Stephens) of Kuhlman, of Ontario; 12 grandchildren and sisters, Kathy Kuhlman, of North Carolina and Patty Heyden, of California. He was preceded in death by siblings, Bill and Mary.
