Harold Lee Rolfe, 78, a lifelong resident and supporter of Wellington, died Friday, August 1, 2014 at his home surrounded by family. Born on June 4, 1936 to the late Clifton and Martha (nee Anderson) Rolfe, Harold attended Wellington High School and served in the National Guard.
He retired from Oberlin Light and Power in 1998. Harold was a lifelong member of the Wellington Eagles. He proudly served on the Southern Lorain County Historical Society board for many years. Harold took great pride in Wellington and its rich historical tradition - he greatly enjoyed sharing about his beloved hometown with people.
Harold was an avid bowler and liked woodworking. He loved his time in nature, and took pleasure in spending time at Findley State Park with his wife. The couple enjoyed deer and bird watching.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carol (nee Moore); children, Brian (Holly) Rolfe, of North Ridgeville, Tim (Julie) Rolfe, of Wellington and Kayla (Dave) Kroll, of Denver, NC; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Art (Sheila) Rolfe, of Lampe, MO and Bill (Donna) Rolfe, of LaGrange; sister-in-law, Rhea Rolfe; sister-in-law, Betty Brown; Sandy and Roger Bradstock and many nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Clifton and Roy.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, August 3 from 6-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington where a Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tom Keller officiating. Burial at Greenwood Cemetery will take place at a later date.
