Harold D. Tackett, age 64, of Greenwich, died Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Fisher Titus
Medical Center, Norwalk after a lengthy illness. He was born November 11, 1946 in
Shelby, Ohio, son of the late Hearldon and Sallie (Wireman) Tackett. Harold had lived
in Greenwich most of his life. He was a 1964 graduate of South Central High School.
He had an associate degree in Accounting from Mansfield Business College. He had
served in the U.S. Army from 1967'1969. He was a staff sergeant in Vietnam for 1
year. Harold retired from R.R. Donnelley's, Willard after 41 years in 2006. He was
assistant scout master in Greenwich with troop 225 then Norwalk Troop 218. He was on
the Firelands District Committee of the Boy Scouts. Harold had been associated with
the boy scouts for over 20 years. He enjoyed camping, cooking, gardening, watching
drag racing, truck & tractor pulls. He was a member of the Shiloh Pentecostal Church
of God. He was a member of the Norwalk V.F.W. and the Greenwich American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Karen (Caskey) Tackett, whom he married March 1, 1969; his
sons, Robin Tackett and Brett (Samantha Stumbo) Tackett all of Greenwich; a granddaughter, Peyton; his brothers, Donald (Bonnie) Tackett of Willard, Anthony 'Pete' Tackett of Greenwich; his sister, Debra Tackett of Plymouth; his uncle, Marvin (Wilma) Wireman; his aunts, Goldie Wireman, Viney Wireman, Ruby (George) Riggs and Hester Tackett of Shelby; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call from 2'4 and 6'8 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at the Shiloh Pentecostal Church of God, 117 Baseline Rd., Greenwich where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Mark Wireman officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven.
