Obituary

Harold A. 'Stub' Wiles, age 79, of Wellington, died Sunday, December 2nd at the Elms Retirement Village following a short illness. He was born October 3, 1928 to the late Carl and Icy (Brown) Wiles. Mr. Wiles was a lifelong resident of Wellington and graduated from Wellington High School in 1946. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Naval Reserve Surface Division 4-10. Mr. Wiles was self-employed and owned and operated Wiles Masonry. He was a long-time Councilman, an Auxiliary Police Officer and served 35 years as a Fireman for the Village of Wellington. Harold was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wellington and the Ohio Oil and Gas Association. He was an avid hunter who built his own muzzleloader. Survivors include his companion, Shirley Gott of Wellington, three children, Timothy (Kathy) Wiles of Spencer, Molly Jane (Ted) Smith of Wellington, and Ellyn Marie Wiles of Marietta, five grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Jean Wagner of Columbus, 2 nephews, 1 niece, several cousins, and his great aunts. Friends may call from 6 ' 9 pm on Wednesday, December 5th at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St., Wellington. Friends may also call from 10 am until time of funeral service at 11 am on Thursday at the First Baptist Church, 125 Grand Ave., Wellington. Rev. Thomas Alexander will officiate and interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the First Baptist Church of Wellington.
