Obituary

Harry B. Crawford, 84, of Wakeman, passed away of lung cancer, Friday, February 26, 2010. He was born on May 4, 1925 in Lorain. He attended Monroeville schools and later enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and served on the USS Zenobia. Harry married Marjorie Jean McChesney in 1946. In 1959 they settled into Wakeman where they raised their nine children. He drove truck for 30 years at Norwalk Truck Line and retired from Midwest Haulers. After retirement he worked for New London Schools and First Baptist Church in New London as a custodian. Survivors include his children, Harold of Tiffin, Vickey (Larry) Classen of New London, Harry (Brenda) of Wakeman, Pamela Crawford of Port Clinton, John (Cheryl) of South Amherst, Michael of Wakeman, Renee (Mike) Swords, Ronda (Richard) Wilson, and daughter in law Linda Crawford all of New London; 19 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Harry was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Marjorie in 1994; son, Russell Crawford in 2007; father, Arthur Willis Crawford; mother, Constance May (Ritzenthaler); stepfather, Walter John Duffett; grandchildren, Susanna and Joshua Crawford and Richard Wilson; brothers, Harold, Earl, Howard and Carl. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 6th at the First Baptist Church, 432 Park Ave., New London. Memorials may be made to Barrett's Chapel, PO Box 22, New London, OH 44851.
