Harry L. Hopkins, age 71, of Greenwich passed away Friday, June 15th after a short illness. Harry was born and raised in Gem, West Virginia. He had lived in Baltimore and Chicago. Since the late 1960's he had resided in the Huntington and New London areas.
Harry owned and operated Hopkins Deli in Huntington and was a real estate agent for Henry Taylor Real Estate. He also worked for the Huntington Township Trustees. Harry played the guitar and was a vocalist in a band. He was active in the local Pee Wee football and Hot Stove Baseball leagues. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.
Harry is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Tim) Frazier of Nova, 3 sons, Scott (Jody) Hopkins of Wellington, Mark (Leigh Ann) Hopkins of Spencer, and John (Robbin) Hopkins of Wadsworth, their mother, Jacqueline (Scherrer) Hopkins, and 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Jerry (Bonnie) Hopkins of Oberlin and a sister, Joretta (Clyde) Porter of Bellville. Harry was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Icie and William Paul Jones, and his father and step-mother, Leonard and Carrie Hopkins.
Friends may call on Monday, June 18 from 5-8 pm at the Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main Street, Wellington, and on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of funeral services at 11 am. Burial will follow at Huntington Cemetery.
