Obituary

Harry R. "J.R." Lee Jr., 86, of Wellington, died Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin after a battle with Parkinson's Disease . He was born on July 18, 1927 in Oberlin to the late Harry R. Sr., and Earnestine (nee Wight) Lee. Harry was a 1945 graduate of Wellington High School. Following graduation Harry served in the United States Navy during WWII. After his time in the service, Harry joined his father and brother at H. R. Lee and Sons Pontiac and Cadillac dealership, a job which he truly enjoyed. Harry was an active member of the Wellington First Congregational United Church of Christ, serving as a Sunday School teacher, a Deacon, and singing in the choir. He was also a member of Wellington Eagles 2051, served on the board of the Spirit of 76 Museum, and drove the Senior Bus for the community of Wellington. Harry enjoyed flying and was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Throughout his life Harry traveled all over the country and visited all 50 states and several foreign countries. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Maxine (nee Wolfe) Lee, daughter Sandra (Ted) Clawson of TX, Tom (Jean) Lee of Litchfield, and Steve (Diana) Lee of Bay Village, grandchildren Sandra Noall, Scott Lee, Megan Clawson, Adam Clawson, Marissa Lee, and Jack Lee; great grandchildren Elizabeth and Abigail Noall, and Hunter, Maxwell, and Ava Lee. He is also survived by siblings Charles R. "Bob" Lee, and Elizabeth "Libby" Vickers. Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St., Wellington. Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 140 South Main St., Wellington, with Rev. Brian Burke officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. Donations in Harry's memory may be directed to the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
