Hazel J. (Sloan) Myers, well-known cake decorator and pie baker, passed away Tuesday evening, February 28 at her home. She was 82. Hazel was born July 10, 1934, daughter of the late Judd and Margy (Kissel) Sloan. She lived all her life in the Plymouth/Shiloh area. She was a 1952 graduate of Shiloh High School. After graduation Hazel married Lawrence W. Myers. She worked for South Central Schools and retired from Willard Schools. She loved to be outside tending to her flowers, garden and animals. Hazel was always a busy lady, helping others whenever the need arose. She was a 51 year 4-H advisor for the Ripley Nifty Needlers and Cookers club. Hazel had served on the Huron County 4-H Committee. Hazel was the founder and active member of the Community Minded Fair Supporter Committee (CMFSC) in Huron County , which is instrumental in improving the Huron County Fairgrounds. She was a Grange member in the local Greenwich, Fitchville and Shiloh Granges and also at the county, state and national levels.
She is survived by two daughters, Jan (Mike) Wade of Plymouth and Carole (Gene) Kirkpatrick of Shelby; 3 grandchildren, Chad Kirkpatrick of Michigan, Adam (Amy) Wade of Mansfield and Amy (Bart) Secor of Greenwich; 3 great grandchildren, Lauryn and Carter Wade, Chesney Secor; her sister, Jeannette Oney of Shiloh, her sister in law, Phaenon Sloan of Shiloh, several nieces and nephews; her dog Layla; and more friends than you could count. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Myers, her sister, Betty Hamman, her brothers, Harmon and Leo Sloan, her brothers-in-law, Dean Hamman and Ernest Oney.

Her family will greet Friends from 3 - 7 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 49 West Main St., Greenwich, where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Danny Caudill officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh.
