Obituary

Helen Martha (Simmons) Feron (nee Raab), 87 of Wellington, died Sunday, February 19, 2012 at her home. Born in Henrietta, she had lived in Wellington for the past 48 years. She was a member of the Pittsfield Community Church, Seniors of Wellington, Elyria American Legion Post 12 Auxiliary, and bowled at Strike-Out Lanes in Wellington for 20 years. Helen was retired from Rockwell International and Cleveland City Forge. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, cooking and sold baked goods out of her home for many years. Helen was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Cleveland Indians and Browns. Survivors include her sons, Russell (Heather), Melvin (Evelyn), Merle (Linda) Simmons, all of Wellington; daughters, Karen Barnes (Nelson) of Amherst, Sally Galanek (Joe) of Hinckley, and Sharon Moore (Gary) of Wellington; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Robert H. Simmons in 1979; her husband of 15 years, James F. Feron in 1997;grandson Drake Simmons; sisters Gertrude Burke, Dorothy Carter, Mildred Green, Lucille Reeser, and her twin Hazel Roland; brothers, Walter, Arthur and Earl Raab. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main, Wellington. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Pittsfield Community Church, 17026 State Rt. 58, Wellington, with Rev. Jonathan Cheatham officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst. The family requests memorial donations be made to New Life Hospice, 5255 North Abbe Rd., Elyria, OH 44035.
