Helen Lucille Smith, 88, of Willard, went to her Eternal Home and Savior May 21, 2024. She was born May 2, 1936, to Lindsey and Martha Hodges in West Virginia. She married her loving husband, Roy Mason Smith, on Oct. 31, 1959. Together they worked in the printing industry for much of their lives. After meeting while working in a print shop in Parkersburg, West Virginia, they married and moved to Ohio where they lived in the North Fairfield, Norwalk, and Willard area.
In the early 60's, she worked in Norwalk as a bank teller, and as a legal secretary. In 1967, she and her husband became the owners of the Greenwich Enterprise Review and the Shopper's Helper.
She enjoyed playing sports in the Norwalk Volleyball and Softball leagues, racing go-carts and motorcycling. In her later years, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and reading the Holy Word daily. She was a member of the Norwalk First Baptist Church and the 49'ers Sunday School class.
She is survived by her daughter, Karla (Jim) Souslin, her grandsons Ronald Edward Smith II, who she and Roy raised from the age of 3, and Shane Ward; and son Ronald Edward Smith. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Roy; her children Allena Smith and Dallas Smith; her sister, Shirley and her brother, Robert.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at 2 p.m. at Edwards Grove Cemetery, Greenwich. Pastor Art Conrad of the Norwalk First Baptist Church will officiate.
