Herald A. "Skip" Howell Jr., 82, of Monroeville, Ohio passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, on December 23, 2020. He was born on January 25, 1938 in North Fairfield, Ohio to the late Herald (Sr.) and Marian (Grady) Howell. Skip graduated from Norwalk High School, along with his high school sweetheart Doris Worcester in 1956. The two would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this year.
Skip drew the plans for their home. He loved to be at home, especially outside, mowing and manicuring his property, gardening, and he cherished time with his family and grandchildren. Skip had worked for Norwalk Parts for 26 years and later sold oil lubricants for District Petroleum and Liden Oil Company, out of Toledo until his retirement.
He is survived by his loving wife, Doris (Worcester) Howell; their children, Dan (Patty) Howell of Florida, Gary Howell of Monroeville, and Nancy (Tom) Miller of Norwalk; grandchildren, Ben and Eric Howell, Zackary and Hayden Miller and Spencer and Quentin Howell; great grandchildren, Nathan Howell, Maverick Miller and Reagan Miller and sister, Pat (Bill) Camp of Norwalk. Skip is preceded in death by his parents.
His family is holding a visitation on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, Ohio from 11 a.m. until the time of the 1 p.m. service. Skip served his country as part of the United States Army and was part of the Honor Guard in Korea. Appropriately military honors will conclude the services at the funeral home. Visitors to the funeral home should bring and wear a mask and be prepared for the possibility of waiting outside once capacity limits are reached until proper spacing for social distancing is again available.
