Hilda Sue Black, 84, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at home. She was born on May 17, 1942, in Cullman, Alabama to the late William and Alma (Walker) Parker. She attended Akron Central High School and married her high school sweetheart Jimmie Keith Black in 1959.
They lived in Elyria, Ohio for 8 years, with their children, Delene Marie, Steven Dale, and Michael Keith, before moving to Clarksfield, which they called home for 42 years.
Hilda worked at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk for 30 years as an NA, LPN, and RN. She served with the Red Cross for several years, including two trips to assist with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
Hilda loved traveling, she had made trips to Germany, Ireland, Russia, and up and down the East Coast. She also enjoyed gardening and bird watching.
She is survived by her daughter, Delene Smith, and grandsons, Zachary Smith, and Dillon Black.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie Black in 2010, and sons, Michael and Steven Black, both in 2025.
In keeping with Hilda’s wishes she will be cremated with no public services planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice. Online expressions of sympathy may be made by visiting: www.walkereastmanheydingerfh.com
