Howard Henry Hart, 93, of Litchfield, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at home surrounded by family. Born on August 29, 1922 in Wellington, he was the son of the late William Roy and Esther (nee Sanders) Hart. Howard proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII.
Howard worked at the Larson Foundry for 20 years, and farmed for 65. One of his great joys in life was working as a park ranger with the Lorain County Metro Parks, a job he served at for 18 years. Howard enjoyed meeting up with his ranger friends monthly on "Dewey Day". He was also a member of the 10 am coffee club at McDonalds. Howard loved to spend time outdoors and kept a beautiful rose garden, he was known for bringing a rose as a gift wherever he went. An active member of the Midview Nazarene Church, Howard served on many committees throughout the years, taught Sunday school, and served as the choir director. Howard later attended the First United Methodist Church in Wellington.
Howard is survived by his children, Ronald (Trudie) Hart of Elyria, Linda (Harold) VanMeter, of Penfield, David (Patricia) Hart, of Litchfield, Rachel Welch, of Penfield, and Debi (Evan) Kincaid of Maricopa AZ; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings Martha Hartsel, of Waynsville Russell Hart, of Fairborn, and Glenn Hart of FL. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 73 years, Violet Marie (nee Long) Hart, grandson Jeffrey Hart, great grandson Shane VanMeter, siblings Margaret Hart, Elma Kurtz, Ruth Searl, Mary Cottrell, and George Hart.
Friends and family will gather on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St, Wellington, 44090. Services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 127 Park Place, Wellington, with Rev. Paul Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington with full Military Honors.
