THE FUNERAL TIME FOR BILL MESSER HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 2:00 P.M. SUNDAY. IF THE WEATHER IMPROVES. CALL AHEAD BEFORE LEAVING. BURIAL WILL TAKE PLACE AT 2:00 P.M. TUESDAY.
Humie 'Bill' Messer, age 76, of New London, died Tuesday evening, March 4, 2008 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born May 25, 1931 in Leslie County, Kentucky, son of the late Albert and Alice (Stidham) Messer. Mr. Messer had worked for the U.S. Steel Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1986. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, country and bluegrass music.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Eva (Wolfe) Messer; his son, Jesse Messer of Lorain; 5 grandchildren, Mike, Matt, Erik, Jason and Amanda; 5 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Stoney Messer of Kentucky, Albert Messer, Jr. and Harrison Messer both of Lorain; 2 sisters, Floice Casto of Michigan and Rose White of Lorain. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Clyde, Irvine and Eugene Messer.
Friends may call from 3 ' 8 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2008 at the Eastman Funeral Home, 200 West Main St., New London where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Ronald Schubert officiating. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Fitchville Cemetery.
