Obituary

Ila Mae Farrar, 89, of Wellington, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Elms Retirement Village in Wellington. Ila was born on December 26, 1921 in Strattonville, PA to the late Leroy and Mary (nee Sleppy) Fahler. She graduated from Portville High School in New York. Ila later moved to Chatham in 1940 and then to Wellington when she married her husband, William. She worked as the chief telephone and traveling telephone operator in both Wellington and Medina. Ila was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Wellington. She was also a member of the Town and Country Club and Kings Daughters. Ila's favorite pastime was reading; she consumed any book she saw. Ila is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Jim) Hollingsworth, of Wellington; grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Braid and Linda (Steve) Dyczkiewycz; 2 great- grandchildren, Jessica and Grant. Survivors also include her brothers, Don and Gerald Fahler, both of Wellington. Ila was preceded in death by her husband, William, after 55 years of marriage, and a brother, Ivan. Friends and family will be received on Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington with Rev. Lea Mahan officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington.
