Jack Lee Henderson, 78, passed away on February 22, 2015, following a long illness. Jack was a firefighter and Fire Marshal for the City of Lakewood. His 30 years of service also included work with the Building Department and volunteering with the Office on Aging.
Jack is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gayle (Prehn), daughter, Kelly Rockey and foster daughter, Maria Gibson (Gary); three grandchildren, Joshua Rockey, Alicia McDowell (Tim), Joseph Hall; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Artie and Blanche Henderson, four brothers and a sister.
Jack was an avid sports fan especially of his beloved Cleveland Indians. He loved to camp and was an active member of the Country Road Sams Camping Club. For many years after retirement, weekends were spent with his "camping family". A prolific sender of greeting cards, Jack was known for his great sense of humor. He was loyal, generous, and thought he could fix just about anything. He was beloved by his family and his many friends... he will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date.
