Jack Edward Phillips, 85, of Wellington, died Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born on March 28, 1930 in Elyria to the late Luella and Floyd Phillips. Jack lived most of his life in Elyria.
Jack proudly served his country in the United States Navy, as a Sea Bee. He retired from US Steel after 42 years working as an electrician. Jack was a very active throughout his life. He enjoyed time outdoors going hunting and fishing, and recounting stories about it. Jack's time outdoors also included taking the dog for a walk or enjoying the open road on his motorcycle. He was an avid sports fan and at one time passed up the opportunity to try out for the Chicago Cubs. Jack never missed a baseball game or an Ohio State Football game. He loved gardening and was an avid reader.
Jack is survived by his children Lawrence Phillips, Kathy Gunderson, Linda Draper, and Deborah Wahl; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances, grandson Shawn Gunderson, and brother Harry Phillips.
