Jacky Paul Smith, 67, of Ashland died Saturday March 24, 2012 at the Elms Retirement Village, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 27, 1944 to the late Herbert and Minnie Smith in Kay Ford WV. Jacky grew up in the Cleveland area and later moved to Sullivan where he raised his family.
Following graduation Jacky was enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. For forty year Jacky owned and operated his own trucking rig. He was a member of the Ashland VFW, American Legion, and Moose Club. Jacky loved his family and enjoyed being around them and his other friends especially his grandkids. He was always the life of the party wherever he went.
Jacky is survived by his daughter Mary (Jeff) Shelton of Wellington, son Kenneth Smith of CA, and daughter-in-law Carrie May of Wooster; grandchildren, Nicholas and Brianna Walter, Zachary May and Colton Shelton. He is also survived by sisters Margaret Smith and Ruby Jeffries both of WV and Juanita Warner of Freemont. Jacky was preceded in death by his loving wife Phyllis (nee Kirk), Son Paul, brothers Romgy, Marshall, Donald, Lloyd, Eugene, and Freddy, as well as sisters, Mary Leona, and Georgia Elouise.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, March 27 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main Street, Wellington.
