Jacqueline S. Grendow, 90, of Amherst, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, at Amherst Manor. She was born on March 20, 1935, in Amherst, Ohio, to the late Edward and Nadine (McCoy) Gehl. Jacqueline graduated from Amherst High School and later the M.B. Johnson School of Nursing, where she later was a member of the Alumni Association.
Jacque, our beloved "Gigi", loved "mystery trips" with her grandchildren, often times to Amish Country. She loved painting, crafting and had a keen eye for design. She loved the hunt for vintage treasures what she fondly called, "junking". She retired from the Ohio Veteran's Home where she served as the Director of their Chemical Dependency Program. She was also a nurse for many years at Gaymont Nursing Home in Norwalk, Amherst Manor, and Lutheran Memorial Home in Sandusky. Jacque was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Norwalk.
Survivors include her children, Michael (Miko) Grendow of Avon Lake, Patricia Jones (Mike Forte) of Medina, and Jon (Karen) Grendow of Huron; daughter in-law, Renee Grendow; former daughter in-law, Mary Grendow; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; nieces, Lisa Johnson and Susan Sterling; and special friend and caretaker, Sheryl Laing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Grendow; sister, Patricia Hyde; brother in-law, Kenneth Hyde; and son in-law, Todd Jones.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM, St Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Ave, Norwalk.
