James Andrew "Andy" Massie, 73, of Savannah, lived an eventful life surrounded by many family and friends who loved him.
Andy was born January 8, 1945 in Lodi, Ohio and was raised in Nova. He was part of the first graduating class from the new Mapleton High School in 1963. Andy was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967.
Andy was an auto body mechanic for many years, owning an auto body and car lot in New London. Years later, he transitioned his passion for antique collecting to owning his own antique store in Ashland and later in Savannah.
He was known for his love of spending time with family at the holidays, playing lottery, casino visits, antique collecting, "wheeling and dealing" and watching the Ohio sports teams on TV. Andy had a fun-loving flirtatious attitude; he was always flirting with waitresses, nurses and others just to make people smile or laugh. He also tried to strike a deal wherever he went, right up to the last days of his life.
Andy is survived by his partner of 35 years, Janice K. Hales; children, Gregory (Pamela) Massie, Nishele (Edward) Lenards, Dina (Travis) Anderson and Jason (Roni) Hales; grandchildren, Jordan, Peyton, Bricelyn, Maisie, Shelby, Dessirae, Forest, Britney and Shelby; 7 great-grandchildren and siblings, Dovie Kapoh, Frank (Donna) Massie and Lyn Lorentzen.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Oma (Norris) Wright; father, Drue Massie; brothers, Kenneth, Jerry Lee and Russell Edward Massie; grandson, Trenton James Anderson and brothers-in-law, Lee Lorentzen and Hank Kapoh.
Visitation will be held at Eastman Funeral Home in New London on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 11 am until the time of service at 1pm. Burial with military rites will follow at Savannah Cemetery.
A luncheon will follow at the New London Eagles at 3:00 p.m. If you would like to bring a covered dish to share that would be appreciated or just come by for the fellowship to celebrate Andy's life.
